Instant Pot Refried Beans
Quick and easy — no mashing needed
Equipment
- 1 Instant Pot (4-quart)
Ingredients
- 2 cups pinto beans (sorted and rinsed)
- 4 slices bacon (chopped)
- 5 cups water
Instructions
- Turn the Instant Pot on to "sautè". Add the bacon.
- Cook the bacon, stirring often, until it has released a fair amount of fat.
- Press "Cancel" on the Instant Pot and add five cups of water.
- Place the lid on the Instant Pot, set the valve to "Sealing", and cook on high pressure for 45 minutes.
- At the end of 45 minutes, allow it to natural release for 10-15 minutes.
- Release the pressure and remove the lid.
- If the beans seem to be very watery, set the Instant Pot to "Sautè" and cook until the water is reduced.
- Use a potato masher or an immersion blender to mash the beans.
