Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 carrot, chopped (approximately ⅔ cup)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • cup water
  • 1 can sloppy joe mix
  • 1 cup macaroni
  • 1 cup beef broth (if making soup instead of stew)
  • 1 cup water (if making soup instead of stew)

Instructions
 

  • Brown the ground beef over medium heat and drain if necessary.
  • Add the onions, carrots, and green pepper and cook, stirring often, until vegetables are tender.
  • Add sloppy joe mix, 2 cups beef broth, and ⅔ cup water. Stir well, and bring to a boil.
  • Add the macaroni, stir well, and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until macaroni is cooked through.
  • If making soup, rather than stew, add the additional cup of beef broth and water, stir to combine, and heat through.
  • Serve with hearty bread.
