Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Remove any extra fat.
Add the onions, and cook, stirring constantly, until the onions are softened and have deglazed the pan.
Add the tomato paste and continue to cook, stirring constantly, for approximately one minute.
Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, and black pepper, and soup mix, and stir to combine.
Add the carrots, and cook for five to ten minutes.
Add the water and the potatoes. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until potatoes are tender.
In the meantime, combine the corn starch and 1/4 cup water to form a slurry.
Add the corn (undrained) and the baked beans and corn starch slurry and bring to a simmer. Serve.
Notes
There are a lot of ways you can change up this recipe:
You can use more ground beef. This is a budget version of this recipe.
Substitute any sausage you like for the ground beef.
Add other root vegetables along with the carrots.
Add celery along with the potatoes.
Use a different brand of baked beans.
